Whether you're an off-roading enthusiast or enjoy the look and feel of Jeeps, you're likely excited for the release of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler. Like its predecessors, this model offers a variety of trims that provide features to facilitate a durable and memorable driving experience. If you're in the market for a new Jeep, we're here to help you navigate what to expect from this model, including what's new, some bells and whistles you should expect, and price points to prepare for.

Take a look at our takeaways for next year's Jeep Wrangler model.

What's New For The 2023 Jeep Wrangler

So far, there aren't a lot of new features for this upcoming Jeep Wrangler model. However, this could change between now and its potential release date either later this summer or fall. Right now, the most notable new changes are the Jeep Wrangler's new wheel designs and exterior color palette. Buyers of the Rubicon trim levels can expect to see new wheel designs. Also, Jeep is introducing two new colors: Purple and Grey.

The former is called Reign, possibly a tribute to music artist Prince's famous Purple Rain album and song, and the second is Earl Grey, a grey color blended with light blue. Drivers can also choose from a military-style interior and exterior hue, known as the Freedom Edition. The last appearance change for 2023 is that all trims will now have American flag decals on fenders.

Those using their 2023 Jeep Wrangler for off-roading will be pleased to know that most trim models will have the option for a 4.88 gear or axle ratio for the front and rear axles. Higher axle ratios can help increase torque and acceleration, two critical aspects of off-roading and moving through more mountainous terrain.

Another notable change is that car buyers can add a lower half-door group to their 2023 Jeep Wrangler without also needing to get the upper windows. This change is possible for both the two-door and four-door vehicle options. This is a great alternative for drivers who may not see the need to get the windows and want to save a little money when they order their preferred Jeep model.

Lastly, air conditioning will be standard on all two-door Sport Jeep models.

Currently, the update between 2022 and 2023 Jeep Wrangler models seem to be surface-level. But, as with other years, potential car buyers can expect a variety of options and features to consider for each trim level.

Features Of The 2023 Jeep Wrangler

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler comes with nine models, each with additional features to satisfy those excited to get on the road and put this car to work. As in previous years, the Wrangler comes in two-door and four-door options.

Unless otherwise specified, the specs below are for the four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport:

Fuel Economy

The Sport has a 21.5-gallon fuel tank which can yield 17 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg combined. For the Rubicon 392, the most expensive model, car buyers can expect a fuel economy of 13 in the city, 17 on the highway, and 15 combined.

Powertrain

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sport has a V-6 engine configuration and 285 horsepower at 6,400 RPM. It comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and offers four-wheel drive. However, depending on the model you get, you could go up to a V-8 engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is offered on the Wrangler's most pricey model, the Rubicon 392. Other engine options include a 2.0L turb0, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle engine with 2.0L I4 D0HC DI turbo, and 3.0L EcoDiesel engine.

Weight

This car weighs 5,400 pounds and can tow up to 3,500 pounds. That weight goes up to 6,100 pounds for the Rubicon 392. So, these are great cars for those camping trips where you might be towing a small camper or additional materials that you may need.

Other Features

Depending on your model, you can get halogen or LED headlights. Jeep owners can expect access to the delay-off headlamps and the traditional convertible roof.

Regarding the interior, the base model comes with a 12V DC power outlet, voice-activated audio control, tire pressure warnings to monitor the condition and performance of Jeep Wrangler wheels and tires, maintenance reminders, and a compass and trip computer.

Additionally, if you're interested in alternative fueling options, there is the option to get the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe with plug-in hybrid and electric technology.

As with other years, Jeep is offering its fair share of bells and whistles for those looking to take their Jeep on off-roading adventures. Depending on the trim, drivers can access the Xtreme Recon Package. This feature offers 35-inch tires for those Jeep rims, which provide a 12.9-inch ground clearance, 33.6 inches of water fording depth, and a 47.4-degree approach angle. Additionally, a 4.88:1 axle ratio offers a 100:1 crawl ratio providing that extra torque for those off-roading sessions.

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon trim enables drivers to go into an off-roading mode with the press of a button that adjusts throttle, transmission shift points, and traction control. The car's front and rear Tru-Lok technology allow drivers to evenly distribute power to prevent the misapplication of power during more intense driving conditions.

How Much Will The 2023 Wrangler Cost?

The price you'll pay for the 2023 Wrangler will depend greatly on the trim or model you select at the time of purchase and any add-ons you choose to spring for.

If you're on a limited budget, the four-door Jeep Wrangler sport may be your best bet, with an MSRP of $34,560. The next model up is the Willys Sport at $36,870. The two most expensive Wrangler models are the High Altitude at $53,810 and the Rubicon 392, which starts at $80,390. If you're considering the alternative-fuel model, The Wrangler Rubicon 4xe hybrid electric vehicle has an MSRP starting at $55,260.

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler also comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty and a 5-year/60-000 powertrain warranty. Ultimately, drivers have several options regarding trim levels, off-roading capabilities (especially with larger Jeep Wrangler wheels), color customizations, and pricing.
